Vogue

We had a really great Saturday! I woke up early again this Saturday, which I have started to love. It gave me time to clean, work out and then Bert and I were able to do some shopping. After a fun day, it was time for Bert's debut as a model. :) He was one of the teachers asked to model in the French Club Fashion Show Fundraiser. He did so well. He definitely got his share of whistles, etc. After that, we went downtown to hear Sursie. My friend is the lead singer and they were amazing. How did Monday get here so fast?

Bert in a yellow polo, seersucker shorts and his own boat shoes

In a tux...this picture does not do him justice. He looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

My friend, Star, is an amazing singer!

My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day to my wonderful husband! I am so lucky to have a completely equal partnership with this amazing man. He is such a hard worker and does an amazing job at work. He also does more than help around the house...he easily does half of the housework. He loves me for me and is such a kind and caring person. Bert has a huge heart and he has helped me become a better person. He is my best friend and I am the luckiest woman to be married to him. And the best part? Our marriage gets better with each passing day.

And, as you can see, he is also smokin' hot.

Man, I did good.

DaiJohna

She was a tiny little girl in a dirty pink shirt. Octagons were her favorite shape and we spent an hour on them, until her 5-year old hands could make them. She loved the cupcakes I brought and told me she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up.

But for girls like DaiJohna, caught in a vicious cycle of poverty, their dreams are unlikely to become realities. But that doesn't mean impossible.

She told me that where she lived had an "A" on the door and would I please write that down with her name so I would know where she lived. I could see that a connection had been made. We were friends.

One at a time, it is easy to see that every person is simply a human being. In groups, people often apply stereotypes. For me, taking time to connect on a personal level with the kids at the Boys and Girls Club has opened my heart so much. I am very grateful for this unexpected gift.
